The Fostering Connections Resource Center and the National Indian Child Welfare Association (NICWA) invite you to join us for a free webinar that addresses ways that tribal child welfare can be supported through implementation of the tribal provisions of the Fostering Connections Act (FCA). There are approximately 560 federally-recognized Tribal nations in the United States, spanning 33 states. The Fostering Connections Act made sweeping changes to federal law by permitting for the first time ever Tribes to receive direct Title IVE support from the federal government. David Simmons, Director of Government Affairs and Advocacy for NICWA, and Arlene Templer, Department of Human Resources, Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes of Montana, will provide an overview of tribes and child welfare and the impact of Fostering Connections on American Indian/Alaskan Native children. Presenters will describe how other agencies and governments can support tribes in the implementation of the FCA. Register for the event here.
